The story

D'O – Michelin Two-Star Italian Contemporary Restaurant in Bareggio, Italy

D'O: Precision and Pleasure in Cornaredo

In the quiet hamlet of San Pietro all'Olmo, just outside Milan, D'O stands as a destination for those seeking Italian contemporary cuisine at its most deliberate. Chef Davide Oldani has earned two Michelin stars for a kitchen that balances creativity with a sense of roots, expressed through what he calls "cucina pop" – a philosophy visible in every detail of the dining experience.

The restaurant offers four distinct tasting menus, each designed to highlight a different facet of Oldani’s cooking. The menu Esattezza presents the signature dishes that built D'O's reputation – a five-course selection of the house classics. Armonia is a seven-course journey of refined, balanced creations. For the fullest expression, Molteplicità unfolds over approximately ten courses, while Leggerezza turns the spotlight on vegetables and plant-based plates, reflecting the "green soul" of the kitchen. All menus are crafted freehand by the chef, and can be adapted for dietary needs.

Wine pairings are available for each menu, starting at €90 for Esattezza. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at lunch, guests can also choose three à la carte dishes for €115 – a more spontaneous way to experience Oldani’s precision.

D'O occupies a welcoming space in the historic piazza, with outdoor seating in warmer months. The atmosphere is polished but unhurried, and small dogs are welcome. It is a place where every gesture – from the layout of the menu to the care given to the guest – reflects a deep commitment to craft. Two Michelin stars are not simply awarded here; they are earned, plate by plate.

Davide Oldani holds court in San Pietro all’Olmo with the “historic” D’O (founded in 2003) and the more recent Olmo, transforming this Milanese suburban hamlet into a beacon of constantly evolving chef-driven cuisine. The approach is naturally well-tested, and the results are increasingly convincing, whether in tributes to master Gualtiero Marchesi served as amuse-bouches or in evolving classics like the caramelized onion reimagined as a “crumble.” There is also the risotto, of which Oldani is a “prophet,” featuring Mantuan pumpkin, quince mustard, Saronno amaretti, and, to top it off, a generous shaving of superb truffle. Perfection peaks with a portion of meagre cooked in seaweed, accompanied by fennel cream, Taggiasca olives, hydroponic tomato, and citron salad. Indulgent touches abound, alongside artisanal breads prepared at the “third brother” in Piazza della Chiesa—namely, the Next D’Oor lab. Service timing is flawless for the lunch shift, set within a venue suffused with signature design and contemporary style. Four tasting menus are available (starting from €170), with the option to select three dishes for weekday lunches at €115.
