The story
Perched on the green hills of Longiano, just ten minutes from Cesenatico, Terre Alte offers sweeping views of the Adriatic coast. The large windows let in the sea breeze, setting the stage for a dining experience centered on the finest local seafood.
Terre Alte opened in 2002, born from the passion of Michele and his partner Francesca. Their dedication to quality and excellence has made the restaurant a reference point in Emilia-Romagna. Every morning, Michele personally visits the fish market in Cesenatico to select the best catch of the day. This hands-on approach, guided by a love for the sea, defines the spirit of the house.
At the helm of the kitchen is Chef Thomas Rivalta, who has led the culinary team from the beginning. His philosophy is to work with premium ingredients without betraying their nature, instead enhancing their inherent qualities. The result is a cuisine that is both refined and honest.
The menu changes with the seasons and availability, always anchored in the Adriatic Sea. Raw seafood is a highlight, with a selection of oysters, a Plateau Royale of shellfish, and carpaccio degustations. Cooked antipasti include steamed seafood with sauces and a Catalan-style crustacean dish. Fresh pasta and risotto feature lasagne with sea robin, tagliolini with baby squid, and a red risotto “alla pescatora.” Grilled and fried options showcase local fish like turbot, John Dory, and scorpionfish, as well as Mazancolle prawns and Conero scampi. Desserts include house-made gelato and a mascarpone soft cake.
Michele’s passion for wine has built a carefully curated cellar, with a strong focus on Italian labels and a notable selection of French wines. The pairings are designed to complement the seafood-driven menu.
Terre Alte’s commitment to quality has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, a testament to its consistent excellence. The combination of stunning location, personal sourcing, and skilled execution makes it a destination for seafood lovers in the region.
