The story
At the heart of the ancient Castiglion del Bosco estate in the UNESCO-protected Val d’Orcia, Ristorante Campo del Drago offers a dining experience rooted in the landscape. The restaurant serves vibrant, original dishes built on fresh produce from the estate’s own organic garden, striking a deliberate balance between Tuscan tradition and modern innovation.
The kitchen is led by Executive Chef Matteo Temperini, whose passion for food is grounded in the deep connection between cooking, the land, and community—a hallmark of his Tuscan heritage. He works alongside Executive Pastry Chef Michael Boivin, a native of the French Basque Country who draws inspiration from the estate’s garden to create desserts that respect French technique while celebrating local ingredients. Together, they offer guests an intimate journey through the gastronomic culture of Tuscany.
This commitment has earned the restaurant two Michelin Stars (2025), a recognition of its excellent cooking and the precision of Chef Temperini and Chef de Cuisine Daniele Bianco. The refined yet welcoming atmosphere, with both air-conditioned indoor and outdoor seating, makes it a destination for those seeking a deeply authentic yet elevated Tuscan dining experience.
