The story
In the heart of the Montefeltro region, within the ancient cellars of the seventeenth-century Palazzo Brancuti in Cagli, La Gioconda offers a contemporary take on Marchigiana country cooking. The restaurant occupies three discreet stone rooms below street level, furnished with modern touches and soft lighting, creating an intimate setting for quiet dinners. During summer, tables are set outside in the historic borgo, allowing guests to dine under the stars of the Appennino Marchigiano.
Chef Gabriele Giacomucci, born in Cagli in 1982, opened La Gioconda in 2006. His cooking is fully expressed to order, combining innovative techniques with respect for high-quality raw ingredients. The menu changes with the seasons, drawing on local produce from the surrounding hills and pastures. House-made bread, pasta al rasagnolo, expertly worked meats, baccalà dishes that are never absent, truffle specialties, inventive vegetable plates, and imaginative desserts define the kitchen’s repertoire.
The wine cellar holds more than 500 labels, with a strong focus on regional Marche wines alongside notable bottles from across Italy and select French and international vintages. Attention is given to vintages and verticals, reflecting a genuine passion for wine.
La Gioconda’s commitment to quality and value has been recognised with a Michelin Bib Gourmand award, a distinction that highlights excellent food at a reasonable price. The restaurant has also earned praise from the Veronelli guide, the Touring Club, and Gambero Rosso, solidifying its place as a reference for modern country cooking in the Marche region.
