The story
For more than three decades, Osteria del Teatro has been a steady presence in the heart of Cortona. Chef Emiliano Rossi leads the kitchen, drawing on the region’s culinary heritage with a refined touch. The result is a distinctly Tuscan cuisine that balances generosity and precision – a profile that earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction.
The restaurant occupies a fully restored 16th-century building. The interiors are divided into three distinct spaces: the first recalls the character of an old Tuscan trattoria, the second opens into a convivial, shared setting, and the third, with its original frescoes, offers an intimate, romantic feel. Each room invites guests to experience the same kitchen in a different light.
Dishes are rooted in Tuscan tradition, with an emphasis on flavourful, honest ingredients. The menu changes with the seasons, and the wine list is carefully curated to match the kitchen’s regional focus. The restaurant also produces its own olive oil and offers a small selection of house-made products. Whether you are seated in the frescoed room or the more casual trattoria space, the cooking remains the central draw – straightforward, accomplished, and unmistakably Tuscan.
