The story
Residenza del Lago began as a careful restoration of a typical Canavese farmhouse from the late 1700s. The original architectural character was preserved: exposed brick vaults, a flower-filled inner patio, and wrought-iron balconies create a warm, intimate atmosphere. The hotel’s 11 spacious rooms continue this sensibility with period furnishings, working fireplaces, and terraces or balconies overlooking the garden.
Dining takes place in two welcoming rooms – the former stable and the original cellar – plus a bright veranda. These spaces double as a reading room and breakfast area, but at lunch and dinner they become the setting for the restaurant’s refined Piedmontese classic cuisine. An exclusive wine cellar, stocked with rare local excellence, complements the meal.
The kitchen’s foundations lie deep in Piedmontese tradition. Classic dishes and splendid local raw materials are always presented and elevated with care, sometimes lightened, reworked, or revisited. This is classic cuisine that respects its origins while allowing for thoughtful evolution. The Michelin guide has recognised Residenza del Lago with a Recommended rating, confirming the quality of both the setting and the cooking.
Set in Candia Canavese, the restaurant is ideal for a stay of total relaxation. The surrounding territory – lakes, hills, and historic villages – invites exploration. Whether you come for the food, the wine, or simply the quiet elegance of the restored cascina, Residenza del Lago offers a genuine taste of Piedmont.
