The story
On a hillside in Montecarlo, overlooking the Lucca countryside, Antico Ristorante Forassiepi has been a destination for good food since the early 1900s. Chef Antonio Pirozzi took over in 2004, restoring the restaurant and infusing it with his own culinary vision.
Pirozzi began his career young, training in notable Tuscan hotels and restaurants, and gaining experience abroad. His cooking philosophy centers on simplicity and flavor – two elements that have won over regulars and new guests alike. He also introduced a well-regarded seafood menu, reflecting his personal passion for the sea.
The setting is equally compelling. In summer, the garden blooms with color and scent, and the terrace becomes a stage of light and taste – an ideal spot for a special evening, cradled by the sinuous lines of the surrounding landscape. The interior is welcoming and refined, with service that is gentle and attentive.
The cuisine is Italian Contemporary with Mediterranean influences, expressed through tasting menus, à la carte dishes, and a selection of desserts. Each plate transmits the passion that has always distinguished Pirozzi.
This commitment to quality earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026, a recognition that aligns with its long-standing reputation. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a returning enthusiast, Antico Ristorante Forassiepi offers a genuine taste of Tuscan hospitality.
