The story
Antica Filanda opened in 1990 in Galati Mamertino, but its roots reach back to the 1930s, when Nonna Nina cooked for a noble Palermo family. Today, the restaurant is run by the Campisi and Parafioriti families. The kitchens are led by four women – Nina, Pinuccia, Pina, and Nuccia – all descendants of Nonna Nina. Their children are now joining the business, ensuring the tradition continues.
The restaurant sits among olive trees with a stunning view of the Aeolian Islands against the Tyrrhenian Sea. Located in the heart of the Nebrodi Park, it offers a calm, elegant setting. The dining room is refined, and the welcome is warm and professional.
Antica Filanda’s cooking is a modern reworking of Sicilian tradition. The family sources high-quality local ingredients and reinterprets classic dishes with a contemporary touch. Standouts include the “Uovo Panato” – a breaded egg with its own “bottarga” and black truffle from Piazza Armerina – and the pappardelle with white ragù of Nero dei Nebrodi suckling pig. Simple dishes like field greens with lard or eggplant parmigiana are given new life while preserving their original flavors. The wine list is extensive, with over 800 labels from Sicily and beyond, presented on a tablet for easy browsing.
Antica Filanda has held the Michelin Bib Gourmand for three consecutive years (2023–2025), a recognition of its excellent value and quality cooking. The award reflects the restaurant’s commitment to a memorable dining experience without pretension.
The property also includes a hotel with a panoramic pool and a dedicated events space, “Atmosfera,” for weddings and banquets. But the heart of Antica Filanda remains the dining room, where four generations of family passion come together on the plate.
