The story
In the ancient village of Rivalto, in the heart of the Valdera valley, La Ripadoro offers an experience rooted in the land and its history. This agri-restaurant and farmhouse, part of the Scateni family's agricultural estate, draws on a legacy that even the poet Giovanni Pascoli appreciated during a visit in 1894, when he tasted the local wine and later remembered it in verse.
At the heart of La Ripadoro is a commitment to Tuscan cuisine that is both contemporary and deeply respectful of tradition. Chef Luca Cannizzo transforms the produce from the Scateni farm and nearby Tuscan producers with a sense of innovation that never overshadows the ingredients themselves. The restaurant’s Michelin recommendation recognizes this thoughtful, place-driven cooking.
The setting is as compelling as the food. Diners can choose between the intimate, fire-warmed rooms of the 19th-century Villa Cortesi, a historic cellar perfect for larger gatherings, or a terrace overlooking the centuries-old park and the rolling hills of the Valdera. The park itself, with its lime trees, oaks, and strawberry trees, becomes an extension of the dining room in the warmer months. The farm’s own olive grove yields the estate's "Oliobono" olive oil, and a kitchen garden supplies aromatic herbs and vegetables that star on the menu.
La Ripadoro is a place where the past and present of Tuscan hospitality meet—a working farm, a family home, and a destination for fine dining that is as honest as it is elegant.
