The story
Osteria dell'Oca Bianca is a place that feels like being invited to the home of old friends. The Michelin guide, which recommends it, describes a kitchen of high level, yet the atmosphere is anything but stiff. The dining room, run by Monica with sunny energy, is a “bomboniera calda e accogliente” – a warm, welcoming jewel box of three intimate, rustic rooms. A well-stocked cellar adds to the charm.
At the stove is Paolo, a chef who, according to those who know him, was born to cook. His food is grounded in Piedmontese cooking, built on carefully selected local ingredients. Antipasti include salame, coppa, giardiniera, insalata russa, and battuto a coltello of Fassone beef. The pasta is homemade – the agnolotti are described as “meravigliosi” (wonderful). Other standout dishes include a masterful panissa, perfect vitello tonnato, and a moving cotechino with purée. Every plate is executed with “amore, passione e concretezza.”
The Michelin recommendation is no surprise to those who have eaten here. Reviewer Paolo Massobrio calls it an “entusiasmante osteria” and dares visitors to compare it with any guide. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and accepts all major credit cards. It is not yet equipped for four-legged friends. Whether for lunch or dinner, Osteria dell'Oca Bianca offers a genuine taste of Piedmont, served with the warmth of a family that truly cares.
