The story
Aria is the restaurant of Villa Riviera Resort, set on a terrace with views that stretch toward Portofino. The setting alone makes an impression—tables under the open sky, the sea within sight, and the scent of the Mediterranean in the air. It is a place where the food matches the panorama in clarity and depth, and Michelin has recognised it with a Recommended distinction.
The kitchen is led by Chef Matteo Armanino, whose approach to modern Ligurian cuisine is grounded in respect for the raw ingredient. He works with small local producers, prioritising seasonality and products protected by Slow Food Presidia. Every plate begins with that relationship to the land and sea.
Guests can choose from three paths, in addition to à la carte. Ritmo Vegetale is a five-course vegetarian journey. Mare focuses on fish. Aria is the chef’s daily selection, shaped by what nature offers and by memories of authentic Ligurian home cooking. Each experience starts with an entrée from the chef and is accompanied by bread made daily with sourdough starter and whole-grain flours.
The wine list spans Italian and international labels, with particular attention to Ligurian varieties and local wineries.
From April to October, Aria opens for lunch as well. The menu, built around the same seasonal equilibrium, covers both land and sea. Desserts are prepared each morning. Booking is required, and the meal is well worth the detour.
Whether for a long dinner or a midday pause, Aria delivers a contemporary take on Ligurian cuisine that is honest, refined, and deeply tied to its place on the Riviera.
