The story
Just a short drive from the center of Cortina d'Ampezzo, on the road toward Passo Tre Croci and Misurina, Ristorante Al Camin occupies a recently renovated space that balances refinement with a warm, family atmosphere. The raised terrace, with thirty seats, opens onto an enchanting panorama of Cortina and the Tofane peaks – a backdrop that changes with the seasons and makes every meal feel like an occasion. The restaurant’s Michelin Recommended status reflects the consistent quality that draws both locals and visitors.
At the stove is chef Fabio Pompanin, whose cooking is rooted in local tradition yet open to the world. He describes his style as local and “fusion,” with international touches that never overwhelm the ingredients. The menu changes with the seasons, and the kitchen’s commitment to genuine, straightforward flavors is evident in every dish. A carefully curated wine list, featuring both regional and international labels, accompanies the food.
Among the dishes highlighted on the restaurant’s own pages are a tagliata di cervo (sliced venison) with red onion, raspberries, and chanterelles – a plate that captures the Alpine landscape on the plate. For dessert, the Tenerone al cioccolato with raspberry sauce offers a rich, comforting finish. These are just two examples of a menu that celebrates country cooking while embracing modern techniques and global influences.
Al Camin is open year-round for lunch and dinner, with seasonal closures in June and from mid-September to mid-October. The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays during low season.
