The story
In the heart of the Dolomites, Alajmo Cortina brings the acclaimed Alajmo family’s vision to a historic space in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The restaurant is a celebration of contemporary Alpine cuisine, where the past informs the present without being bound by it.
Chef Massimiliano Alajmo describes the kitchen’s philosophy as one of respect for historical and conceptual layering. The menu reinterprets dishes from years past, some nearly forgotten, presenting them in a modern key. The result is food that is both deeply pleasurable and layered with meaning, inviting multiple readings. The wine list, curated by Aris Alberi, is equally thoughtful.
Leading the kitchen brigade is Mattia Barni, who has been with the Alajmo group since 2014, honing his craft at Ristorante Quadri in Venice and alongside Max at the three-Michelin-starred Le Calandre. The front of house is managed with refined discretion by Davide Del Re.
The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming, designed to feel like home. “Every intention will be aimed at warming hearts,” says Raf Alajmo, confident that the territory and the atmosphere will be allies. The space is complemented by Bar Alfredo, a dedicated spot for an aperitif or a flute of Champagne with fresh Alajmo caviar.
This commitment to excellence has earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction, placing it among the notable dining destinations in the Italian Alps.
