The story
In the small town of Cusago, just outside Milan, Da Orlando has been a fixture since 1980. What began as a trattoria opened by their mother, named after their father, has evolved into a restaurant driven by the passion of a family who grew up in the trade. In the 1990s, the current generation moved the restaurant to its present location and transformed both its look and its cooking. “We have continued to do so every day,” they write. “Growing together with your own place means always being willing to renew yourself, without forgetting where you come from.”
That philosophy is evident in a menu that respects Italian tradition while looking forward. Dishes such as the Battuta di Fassone Piemontese with grana lodigiano raspadura and veal juice in Porto, or the Risotto “Cacio e Pepe” with octopus and lime, show a kitchen that balances technique with flavour. The current menu also includes a selection of tasting paths — a “Mare” (sea) and a “Terra” (land) — each offering a curated progression of courses designed to showcase the kitchen’s range.
Da Orlando’s approach has been recognised by the Michelin Guide, which selected the restaurant for its 2026 Italy guide. The award is a natural fit for a place that describes its ambition as “accoglienza d’altri tempi e un menu che ricorda la tradizione guardando al futuro” — old-fashioned hospitality and a menu that recalls tradition while looking to the future.
