The story
Since 1965, Capriccio has stood on the shores of Lake Garda in Manerba del Garda, a short drive from Desenzano. What began decades ago is now in the hands of two women: chef Giuliana Germiniasi and her daughter Francesca. Mother and daughter run the dining room and kitchen with a warmth that makes every guest feel like family.
The restaurant has held a Michelin star for 25 years, a testament to consistency and quiet excellence. The Michelin guide describes it as “high quality cooking,” and the team’s dedication shows in every detail.
The menu is a celebration of modern cuisine with deep ties to Italian classics and the Garda region. Seafood takes centre stage, from crudo to grilled fish. Historical dishes from 1965 remain on the menu: Parmigiana di melanzane, Spaghettone all’astice e lime, and Torta di mele with crème anglaise. The tasting menu (€100) might include a tartare of amberjack with gazpacho and strawberries, a low-temperature egg with potato cream and black truffle, risotto alla marinara, and grilled fish with a Gardesana sauce.
The dining room is elegant and recently renovated, with just a few tables overlooking the lake. The service team is professional and attentive, while the kitchen brigade works with precision and passion.
Whether you come for the lake view, the historic recipes, or the modern seafood creations, Capriccio delivers an experience that feels both personal and refined. It’s a place where two generations of women have built something lasting – and where every meal reflects their love for the craft.
