The story
For over six decades, Edelweiss has stood as a cornerstone of local gastronomy in the small hamlet of Viceno, just outside Domodossola. The restaurant is run directly by the Facciola family, whose dedication to quality and tradition has earned it a Michelin Bib Gourmand – a recognition of good quality, good value cooking that has been consistently awarded since at least 1961.
The cuisine here is rooted in the territory. Chefs Ugo and Marco draw on the rich larder of the Ossola Valley, with an emphasis on meats, game, and other local products. The menu is a celebration of authentic, healthy, and simple country cooking with a regional touch. Expect generous use of alpine herbs, berries, and flowers, as well as butter and prized meats from the surrounding valleys. A small selection of local cheeses, including the notable Bettelmatt, and homemade ice cream round out the experience.
The restaurant offers two dining rooms suitable for both intimate dinners and larger events. Whether it is a romantic evening, a family celebration, or a simple night out with friends, the atmosphere remains relaxed and informal, reflecting the family’s warm hospitality. Seasonal ingredients are at the heart of every dish, with local honey, jams, and dairy products from nearby farms often making an appearance. At Edelweiss, the focus is on genuine flavors, prepared with care and a deep respect for tradition.
