The story
Vincenzo Degasperi has reopened in a fresh new location in Egna (Neumarkt), but the spirit remains unchanged: the joy of fine wines, homemade food, and genuine hospitality. As the team puts it, “Genuss, Gastfreundschaft und die Liebe zum Wein” – enjoyment, hospitality, and a love for wine. The restaurant is part of a larger ensemble that includes the Enotheque, the Vajabar, and the Hotel zur Post, making it a natural stop for travelers along the South Tyrolean route.
The menu draws from South Tyrolean culinary heritage while adding refined, seasonal accents. What sets the food apart is a clear inspiration from Calabria, the southern Italian region that gives certain dishes a vibrant, sun-drenched character. The cooking is described as “hausgemacht” – everything is made in-house, with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Diners can expect hearty classics based on family recipes alongside elegant, lighter creations.
Vincenzo Degasperi leads the front of the house, while head chef Josef Affenzeller oversees the kitchen. Together with a dedicated crew, they craft dishes that aim to let guests forget the everyday and surrender to the moment. The atmosphere is stylish yet relaxed, whether you sit inside the enotheque or on the sunny terrace overlooking the lively streets of Neumarkt.
Wine is central here. The enotheque offers an interesting wine list, and the restaurant hosts the annual “Wein & Lauben” event each July, where local winemakers and producers present their wares. For those who want to linger late, the Vajabar serves a curated selection of whiskies, gins, and spirits until the early hours.
The Michelin Recommended recognition – awarded in 2026 – reflects the consistency and care that define this address. It is not a gimmick but a quiet confirmation of what the team has been doing all along: serving thoughtful, regionally rooted food with a southern Italian twist, in a space built for lingering.
