The story
Perched 500 metres above Negrar on the road to Mazzano, Trattoria alla Ruota is a welcoming, refined restaurant that feels both of its place and of its time. The Michelin Bib Gourmand 2026 award recognises its consistent delivery of good quality, good value cooking – a fitting nod to the passion that drives this family-run spot.
The heart of the kitchen is Renza Peretti, who crafts seasonal, creative dishes rooted in the flavours of the Valpolicella hills. Her menu changes with the year, highlighting fresh ingredients in a style best described as Modern Cuisine – inventive yet grounded. Alongside her, sister Odilla Peretti brings a pastry chef’s precision to bread, grissini, and desserts, adding a personal touch to every meal.
The restaurant occupies a recently renovated early-1900s house, its interiors balancing warmth with elegance. It suits everything from an intimate dinner to a business lunch, and the hillside setting offers a quiet escape. Outside seating, air conditioning, and wheelchair access make it comfortable year-round.
In the dining room, Thomas Dal Castello curates a wine list that spans local, national, and international labels, with a special focus on artisanal and natural wines – each bottle chosen for its story and respect for tradition.
Trattoria alla Ruota may call itself a trattoria, but its soul is that of a serious restaurant – one where two sisters, a young brigade, and a deep connection to the land come together to offer Modern Cuisine that is both creative and satisfying. The Bib Gourmand seal simply confirms what regulars already know: this is a place worth the drive.
