In Fano, on the Adriatic coast, the Ricci family runs Cile's, a restaurant bistrot where the warmth of a family enterprise meets the precision of a kitchen that has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for good quality, good value cooking. The name comes from Cile, the general supervisor, who works alongside his daughter Alessandra, the patronne in charge of the dining room, and Nicola, who oversees the kitchen and the wine list. Theirs is a story of evolution: the family had a brewery, but the punishing hours led them to rethink everything. What emerged is Cile's, a place built on fresh seafood and an ethos that pairs quality with generous portions.

A space shaped by the sea

The restaurant's interior was assembled without a master plan, piece by piece. Two window shutters from Cile's father's house became the door of a crockery cabinet. Objects found on the beach hang on the walls. A jute curtain with ruffles came from France, and the wrought-iron tables, repainted in Provenza, are echoed in the oxidised iron of the front door, long worked to resist the corrosive salt air. Even the restrooms are a small indulgence, with hand-painted doors and a little garden of aromatic herbs in the anteroom. At night, the lights stay low, candles on every table, and the atmosphere turns warm and romantic.

Classic cuisine, seafood soul

Cile's cooking is squarely in the realm of classic cuisine with a strong seafood identity. The kitchen's philosophy is straightforward: fresh fish and generous portions, always. The cult dish is the carbonara di pesce, a seafood spin on the Roman classic that the restaurant calls an unmissable gourmet adventure. Other signatures include the tuna tartare with burrata and pistachios, and the “Ultimo Mango a Parigi” — a tataky of tuna with grilled mango and soy mayonnaise. The fritto misto di pesce comes with tempura vegetables. Every dish speaks of the sea, and the menu changes with the catch. It is this honest, flavour-driven approach that earned the Bib Gourmand, a recognition that signals a meal worth the detour without the formal price tag.
