The story
Il Latini describes itself as a journey through traditional Tuscan cuisine, and that promise holds true from the moment you step inside. Located on Via dei Palchetti in Florence, this restaurant has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its good quality, good value cooking – a recognition that speaks to both the care in the kitchen and the accessibility of the experience.
The menu is built around the classics of Tuscany. The tasting menu offers a generous progression: an antipasto misto with prosciutto, salami, crostini, and farro salad; primi misti that include ribollita, pappa al pomodoro, and penne strascicate; then the centrepiece – bistecca alla fiorentina, served rare as tradition dictates. Guests can choose between a costola (rib) cut or fillet, and for those who want the finest, certified Chianina beef is available. The meal finishes with house-made desserts, coffee, and a digestivo.
Il Latini also offers an à la carte menu with antipasti, primi, secondi, contorni, and dolci, plus a dedicated wine cellar – la cantina – to pair with each course. The kitchen is open for dinner Tuesday through Friday, and for both lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday.
One thoughtful detail: Il Latini has created a menu for four-legged friends, developed with a veterinary nutritionist. Dishes like veal with vegetables and pasta, or chicken with potatoes and zucchini, are priced at €5 and let your dog share in the meal.
The atmosphere is relaxed and convivial, the kind of place where the food speaks for itself. Whether you come for the bistecca or the ribollita, Il Latini delivers a genuine taste of Florence.
