The story
On the gentle hills of Fiesole, Serrae Villa Fiesole occupies a former lemon house once used by monks of a nearby monastery. Today, the space is a contemporary chic dining room with an open kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the Florence skyline. In warmer months, the panoramic terrace offers tables set among the greenery, with an uninterrupted view over the city.
Self-taught and born in 1980, Chef Antonello Sardi trained in Florentine and Tuscan kitchens before opening his own restaurant. He brings a deep knowledge of the territory and a visceral connection to nature, using local raw materials and self-produced ingredients. His approach earned him a Michelin Green Star for Sustainability in 2021, and he has held a Michelin star since 2019. After moving to Serrae Villa Fiesole, he was listed in the Michelin Guide in 2024 and received a star in the 2025 guide, reaffirmed for 2026. He leads a young, motivated team, including sous chef Olga Iuliucci and pastry chef Ludovica Dellaria.
Sardi’s contemporary Italian cooking is refined, creative, and attentive to detail, balancing innovation with the lessons of tradition. The menu changes with the seasons, offering tasting paths such as “Attualità” (five courses, focused on local flavours and sustainability), “Identità” (seven courses, expressing the chef’s philosophy), and “Carta Bianca” (nine courses chosen by the chef). A vegetarian menu and a lunch menu are also available. À la carte dining is possible for smaller groups. The wine list features about 200 Italian, French, and international labels, and the restaurant is a recommended venue for Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal.
Dishes – both seafood and land-based – are designed to surprise and move, creating a genuinely multi-sensory experience. The open kitchen allows guests to watch the team at work, while the elegant, understated mise en place reflects the same precision found on the plate.
At Serrae Villa Fiesole, the connection between place, territory, and kitchen philosophy is strong and unique. It is contemporary Italian cuisine at its most honest, served in a setting that makes the most of its extraordinary location.
