The story
Haven’t you ever been to a trattoria? To this trattoria? On September 8, 1979, Fabio Picchi opened his Ristorante Cibrèo in Florence’s Sant’Ambrogio neighborhood. That same day, he opened a trattoria next door, driven by a democratic belief: that good cooking is for everyone. This is Il Cibrèino.
The spirit here is pure and direct — the ‘hardest’ expression of Cibrèo’s kitchen, deeply Florentine and utterly popular. The atmosphere is warm and unpretentious, a place where the city’s character comes to life over a shared meal. This approach earned Trattoria Cibrèo a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026, a recognition of its consistent good quality and good value Tuscan cooking.
The menu reads like a love letter to Tuscan tradition, ‘sporcata da qualche ricordo d’infanzia e da influenze inter-regionali’ — touched by childhood memory and flavors from beyond Tuscany. Standouts include the legendary Patè del Cibrèo with crostini, the iconic Pappa al Pomodoro (Tuscan tomato and bread soup), the baked Lasagna with pesto and green beans, and the rich Lampredotto in Umido. The kitchen works to the rhythm of the seasons, ensuring every plate feels immediate and honest.
Whether you’re a local or a visitor, the invitation is the same: come as you are, share the emotion. In a city full of history, Il Cibrèino remains a living, breathing part of Florence’s everyday story—a trattoria where the spirit of the city meets the soul of its cuisine.
