The story
Perched on the hills of Frascati, just a short distance from Rome, Cacciani has been a family affair for over a hundred years. Founded in 1922 by nonno Leopoldo and nonna Giannina, the restaurant began its story by uncorking the first bottle of local Frascati wine. Through the post-war years, guided by the next generation, it grew into a landmark, welcoming figures like Tognazzi, Gassman, and even Walt Disney. Today, the third generation—Leopoldo, Caterina, and Paolo—carries forward this legacy of taste and hospitality.
The restaurant’s setting is a key part of the experience. The panoramic terrace offers a sweeping view of Rome, providing a memorable backdrop for every meal. The atmosphere is one of relaxed elegance, where the history of the space is felt but never overstated.
Cacciani’s kitchen is described as a balance between tradition and innovation, rooted in the rhythms of the seasons. The cuisine is classic Italian, drawing on authentic flavors and fresh, quality ingredients. The menu is complemented by a Focacceria&Vineria, offering a more casual take on tradition, and guests are free to order from either menu. The restaurant also boasts an interesting wine list, with pairings available to enhance the meal.
This dedication to quality and consistency has earned Cacciani a place in the Michelin guide, a recognition that speaks to its enduring excellence. It is a place where the taste of family history is served with every plate, on a terrace that feels like a stage above the Eternal City.
