The story
In the heart of Grumello del Monte, next to the bell tower of the Duomo, a 17th-century barn became the setting for a dream. In 1991, a young Roberto Zadra opened Vino Buono, first as an enoteca with wine by the glass and retail sales, then evolving into a full restaurant five years later. The name—"Good Wine"—could not be more fitting.
The restaurant’s foundation is a deep respect for the land and its traditions. The kitchen focuses on Lombardian cuisine, serving dishes that change with the seasons to highlight the best local ingredients. From generous first courses to meat dishes and occasional seafood options, the menu is designed to pair perfectly with the wine list.
The wine list is the soul of Vino Buono. With more than 400 labels, it features bottles that are often difficult to find through standard distribution channels. Each selection is the result of ongoing research across Italy’s independent producers, offering a variety of price points that make quality wine accessible even to younger enthusiasts. The list is regularly updated and includes reds, whites, sparkling wines, dessert wines, Champagne, and Magnum formats, as well as a dedicated Piwi project section.
The restaurant’s commitment to wine and authentic Lombardian cooking has earned it a Michelin recommendation, a recognition that speaks to the consistent quality of both the cellar and the kitchen.
Dining at Vino Buono is a genuine experience. Guests are encouraged to seek advice on bottle pairings and to order from a menu that rotates to reflect the season. The atmosphere is that of a refined yet welcoming wine bar, where the focus is on the pleasure of good food and excellent wine. The restaurant also offers delivery and takeaway, bringing its carefully selected bottles and gastronomic products directly to your home.
