The story
Since 1870, Antica Trattoria del Gallo has been a destination for Milanese day-trippers seeking genuine Lombardian cooking. Set in Vigano Certosino, within the agricultural park southwest of Milan, the restaurant occupies what was once the home of the Certosini Friars. The building’s history is palpable, and the warmth of the Gerli family, who have run it for three generations, remains intact.
The kitchen stays rooted in tradition and seasonality. Historic dishes such as cotechino with lentils, veal ravioli with melted butter, and pollo alla diavola sit alongside a deliberately simple, substance-driven menu that explores local ingredients. The point of departure is always the quality of raw materials, sourced through careful relationships with artisans, farmers, and breeders. This consistency has earned the restaurant a place among the Premiate Trattorie Italiane and a Michelin Recommended distinction.
