The story
Since 2013, Lo Scopiccio has been the story of three people: Barbara, Fabrizio, and Leonardo. Their restaurant in Perignano, near Pisa, is a contemporary country house where the goal is simple—to eat well, relax, and feel at home. The dining room sheds formalities for a warm, authentic atmosphere, and a luminous veranda extends the experience outdoors in both winter and summer.
At the heart of the kitchen is Chef Barbara Simoncini. Her cooking is a personal form of passionate research and experimentation, driven by a curiosity for flavours from distant lands. Yet she never forgets her roots, grounding every dish in respect for Tuscan tradition. This balance of global inspiration and local culture creates what the restaurant calls a “simple complexity”—refined, creative, and deeply satisfying. It is this approach that earned Lo Scopiccio a Michelin Recommended distinction.
The experience extends well beyond the food. Fabrizio curates a wine list that evolves daily, pairing Barbara’s dishes with bottles from Tuscany and beyond. Leonardo, meanwhile, invites guests to begin their meal with a cocktail—either a surprise creation or a classic done right. For those who want to go deeper, the restaurant also offers cooking classes in Italian or English and private chef services for events.
