The story
In the quiet countryside of Coriano, near Legnago, Locanda dell'Arcimboldo offers a dining experience rooted in the traditions of Veneto classic cuisine, with a pronounced focus on seafood. The restaurant’s commitment to quality has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, reflecting its consistent execution and thoughtful sourcing.
The menu, available in Italian, presents a clear love for the sea. Starters highlight raw preparations: a plate of mixed raw fish, raw lobster with sweet-and-sour vegetables, and a trio of raw squid with lemon, hazelnuts, and mullet bottarga. For those who prefer cooked dishes, there are anchovies from the Cantabrian Sea with burrata and crostini, or a hearty “tecia” – a stew of mussels, scorpionfish, and prawns in tomato.
Pasta is made in-house, from spaghetti with red shrimp tartare to tagliolini with scallops and langoustines. The green tortelli stuffed with cuttlefish, fennel velouté, and clams showcase the kitchen’s ability to balance flavors. Among the second courses, the Catalan-style platter for one person includes a whole lobster, six prawns, and three scampi. Grilled octopus, prawns, and langoustines, or a mixed fry of squid, red mullet, and sardines, are also options.
A special section of the menu is dedicated to oysters – seven varieties from France, Ireland, and Italy, priced per piece. Other specialties include spaghetti with lobster ragù, tagliolini with spider crab, and risotto with caviar and raw scampi.
Desserts stay classic: tiramisu with Jamaica coffee, millefoglie with chantilly and amaretti, chocolate fondant, and a semifreddo with berries.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, with outdoor seating in warmer months, air conditioning, and wheelchair access. Parking is available on site. The setting is a converted locanda, reflecting the region’s hospitality.
For those seeking a genuine taste of Veneto seafood, Locanda dell'Arcimboldo delivers with precision and warmth.
