The story
In Cucina dai Pennisi is the dining heart of Nica Nuci, a bar and pastry shop on Via Roma in Linguaglossa, at the foot of Mount Etna. The name Nica Nuci—Sicilian dialect for "little walnut"—pays homage to a local economic symbol and the deep roots of this community. The story here stretches back over seventy years, when the original bar-pasticceria first opened its doors.
In 2019, a new generation took over: Daniele Russo and Martina Musumeci. Together with pastry chef Mario Sciarrone, they began an ambitious restyling of the space, rebranding it as Nica Nuci while keeping the traditions alive. The kitchen focuses on Sicilian cuisine, drawing on a legacy that includes Salvatore Consoli, a pastry chef who set a high standard of quality in the 1960s and hosted ceremonies—including weddings—in the same rooms.
Today, In Cucina dai Pennisi serves lunch and dinner, and its menu reflects the same care for ingredients and technique that earned the restaurant a Michelin Bib Gourmand award for good quality, good value cooking. The setting is warm and contemporary, a place where the aroma of artisanal pastries meets the savory notes of the kitchen. The team also runs a shop offering pistachio specialties, chocolates, and typical products, all made in-house.
Located in the heart of Linguaglossa, In Cucina dai Pennisi is a natural stop for anyone exploring the Etna region. It is a restaurant that honors its past while cooking for the present.
