The story
Camana Veglia brings an artisan approach to mountain cuisine in Livigno. The restaurant, part of a small hotel, is a destination for those seeking a meal rooted in Alpine tradition and expressed with contemporary precision.
The kitchen follows a philosophy of craftsmanship: every dish is handmade to order, combining passion, creativity, and a careful selection of ingredients. The menu represents the Italian Alps with respect for origins and attention to the territory. This style blends country cooking with modern sensibility, resulting in plates that are simple in concept but refined in execution. Each course is an expression of the mountain landscape, interpreted through a personal, artisanal lens. This dedication to quality has earned Camana Veglia a Michelin Recommendation, a recognition that underscores its consistent commitment to excellence.
Dining at Camana Veglia is an experience that extends beyond the plate. The interior is a small museum of Livigno’s past: the woodwork dates from the late 1800s, salvaged from ancient mountain huts. Carved ceilings, everyday objects from another era, and furnishings given a second life create an atmosphere that is both intimate and elegant. Upstairs, four cozy salettes invite quiet enjoyment of the meal, while the ground-floor lounge bar, with its fireplace and comfortable armchairs, offers a place to relax before or after dinner.
The wine list, curated by sommelier Rebecca, features 250 labels that travel from north to south Italy, with a particular focus on the Valtellina region and its small producers. International selections change monthly. The bar program is equally thoughtful: Andrea has selected 50 whiskies, while barlady Lucia prepares international cocktails and house specialties. More than 30 gins, grappas, and rums are available, often paired with dark chocolate and dried fruit.
Reservations are recommended for dinner, which is served every evening in an atmosphere that balances Alpine warmth with refined elegance.
