The story
In Livorno's Liberty-style Ardenza district, Ristorante Oscar has been a fixture since the early 1900s. Founded by a man known simply as "Oscar," the restaurant is still remembered by older locals for his character. The current team took over in July 2002, completely modernising the space while preserving its straightforward, professional spirit.
The kitchen focuses on classic cuisine built around the day's catch from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Cooking is deliberately simple and immediate, designed to let the quality of the seafood speak. Menus change with the seasons, and dishes are prepared without unnecessary complication – the aim is to keep natural flavours intact. This approach to seafood has earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended distinction.
The setting is relaxed and welcoming, with outdoor seating available. Whether you come for a weekday lunch or a leisurely dinner, Oscar offers a genuine taste of Livorno's maritime tradition, anchored in respect for the ingredient and the craft.
