The story
Since 1981, Lorenzo has been the restaurant that defines dining in Forte dei Marmi. What began as a family passion for excellence has grown into a destination where the refinement of the kitchen, the quality of the raw ingredients, and the elegance of the surroundings come together to celebrate the pleasure of the table. The restaurant’s unwavering dedication to high standards earned it a Michelin star, a recognition that feels natural rather than self-conscious.
The cooking is rooted in Italian seafood traditions, with a daily focus on the freshest catch from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Signature dishes include the “Bavette sul pesce” – a historical plate of risottata pasta with tiny shrimp, baby squid, and blond prawns – and the “Spaghetti Versiliese,” a local classic with shelled mixed seafood, clams, and cherry tomatoes. The menu also offers a selection of land-based Italian dishes, from Piedmontese beef tartare to a veal cheek braised with five-pepper sauce, and a range of vegetarian options.
Three tasting menus – Cuori, Quadri, and Picche – allow guests to explore the kitchen’s range. The Quadri menu, for example, opens with a signature caviar composition and builds through scallop, pasta with Spello chickpeas, and lobster in a spicy crust, ending with a pastiera. The wine list is impressively deep, with Italian and international labels, including Champagne, Vermentino, and Barolo, as well as a curated selection of dessert wines.
The atmosphere is one of understated elegance. The dining room is refined, with careful service and a dress code that requests no shorts for gentlemen. During warmer months, outdoor seating is available. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, with a brief closure in winter. Lorenzo remains a benchmark for those seeking a memorable meal on the Versilia coast, where the sea and the land meet in a plate of well-crafted Italian cooking.
