The story
In 2024, after a long professional journey in Italy and abroad, Chef Fabio Abbattista realized a dream in a city he calls his own: Milan. The result is Abba, a restaurant that embodies his philosophy of freedom and personal expression through food. The recognition came swiftly—in November 2025, Abba was awarded its first Michelin star, a testament to the kitchen's immediate impact on the city's fine dining scene.
The restaurant occupies a completely renovated former brush factory in the Certosa District, a neighborhood undergoing its own transformation. The dining room is bathed in natural light from large windows, with a palette of earthy tones, sand, and wood that reflects the chef's ethos of essentiality and elegance. By evening, the space shifts, becoming a softer, more intimate setting.
Abba’s contemporary cuisine places the ingredient at the center. Chef Abbattista celebrates the excellence of raw materials, respecting their origin while shaping them with techniques and influences drawn from around the world. The tasting menus—offered in 10 or 12 courses—showcase this approach with dishes like roasted tomato, sea bream with cherries, and lacquered eggplant with fig must. A shorter "Abba stanza" menu offers a selection of four representative courses. A lunch option is also available Tuesday through Friday.
The setting, the service, and the progression of flavors all speak to a clear, confident vision. Abba is a place where the chef’s personality is expressed in every detail, from the handmade breads to the thoughtful wine pairings.
