The story
In the southern reaches of Milan, Antica Osteria il Ronchettino occupies a piece of local history: a 19th-century farmhouse that once served as a postal station for travelers and merchants seeking rest before entering the city. Today, the Meazza-Angelillo family has transformed this timeworn cascina into a restaurant that honors that legacy of hospitality, with a hidden garden that feels almost untouched by the centuries.
The heart of the operation is the kitchen, led by chef Eshak Nakhla. Here, the focus is on the quality of raw ingredients, sourced from passionate artisans and producers. The menu is a respectful yet balanced interpretation of historical recipes, anchored in the traditions of Lombardian and Milanese cuisine. Seasonal changes bring variety, with off-menu dishes that reflect the best of the moment.
The wine program, curated by sommelier Diego Laguzzi, is equally thoughtful. It features a broad and evolving selection of artisanal wines and independent producers, with frequent rotations and numerous off-list bottlings that traverse Italy’s historic wine regions.
The setting is intimate and versatile. The restaurant is divided into two main bodies flanking an internal courtyard and a summer garden. Rooms range from exclusive, intimate spaces to larger, convivial ones, each with its own character. Inside, the restaurant seats up to 150 guests; the outdoor terrace accommodates up to 160. This flexibility makes it a natural venue for private events, while the air-conditioned dining rooms and outdoor seating ensure comfort year-round.
Antica Osteria il Ronchettino has been recognized by the Michelin guide, a testament to its consistent execution of traditional Milanese cooking in a setting that feels both historic and welcoming. It is a place where the past is not just preserved, but lived.
