The story
Just outside Milan, in the small town of Limito di Pioltello, Antico Albergo occupies a building that was once a 19th-century posting station. The Bianchi family has been welcoming guests here for three generations, and the space still carries the spirit of the old inn: exposed beams, antique sideboards, and a stone trough at the entrance evoke the era of horse-drawn carriages. Today, mother Caterina keeps the tradition alive with her “piatti di una volta” – dishes of the past – while her children carry on their father Elio’s gift for hospitality.
The kitchen focuses on the best Lombardian specialties, with a menu that changes seasonally to follow the rhythm of fresh ingredients. The restaurant describes its approach as “an harmonious and wise fusion of tradition and modernity.” The dining rooms – six in total, seating 120 guests – are intimate and rustic-chic. In warmer months, a large veranda opens under a wisteria pergola, accommodating up to 80 guests for al fresco meals. The wine list is carefully curated to complement the cuisine.
Antico Albergo’s consistent quality and dedication to regional Italian cuisine earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction—a recognition that reflects the family’s commitment to both the food and the atmosphere. Whether for a business lunch in a private salon, a romantic dinner by the fireplace, or a family celebration, the restaurant offers a setting that is warm, personal, and steeped in history.
