The story

Franceschetta 58 Modena: Emilian Cuisine in a Former Tire Shop

A Modena Ristorante with Roots in a Tire Shop

Franceschetta 58 sits just steps from the heart of Modena, in a space that was once a tire workshop. The atmosphere is informal, the welcome warm. The kitchen draws its energy from the Emilia-Romagna region, telling stories of local ingredients, artisans, and flavors through a modern, creative lens. The menu changes with the seasons, balancing new discoveries with familiar classics, and is designed to appeal to both regulars and first-time visitors. The restaurant’s commitment to the territory earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, a nod to its confident, unpretentious cooking.

Head Chef Francesco Vincenzi

Born in nearby Formigine in 1992, Francesco Vincenzi began his career at Osteria Francescana, where he worked in the dining room before moving to the kitchen. Under Massimo Bottura’s guidance, he spent seven years in the three-star kitchen, then became head chef of Franceschetta 58 in 2017. He maintains close relationships with local producers and artisans, and builds seasonal menus that reinterpret Emilian traditions with a contemporary eye – influenced also by his travels. In 2019, Identità Golose named him one of Italy’s best chefs under 30.

The Menu: Emilian Cuisine, Modern Expression

The degustation menu, called “I Love Modena”, is the restaurant’s way of telling the story of the city and its surroundings. It is not a simple reproduction of traditional recipes, but a reflection of the people, projects, and collaborations that define the area. Dishes evolve with the seasons and include creations like the seasonal Spaghettone, Patata arrosto, and Cicoria e Kiwi. A signature addition is the Tortellino del Tortellante, made in collaboration with a local social project that teaches pasta-making to young adults with autism. The wine list is equally rooted in the territory, featuring rare grapes and contemporary producers.

Community and Collaboration

Beyond the plate, Franceschetta 58 actively supports social initiatives. The kitchen works with the agricultural project of Modena’s prison, where many of the vegetables used in the menu are grown. This partnership gives inmates a path to reintegration through work, and places vegetables at the center of many dishes. The restaurant’s “See you spoon” sign-off captures the spirit: a place that is both a destination and a local favorite, serving Emilian cuisine with honesty and warmth.
