The story
Since 1951, the Oliva family has been making pizza in Naples’ Rione Sanità. What began with Concettina herself has passed through four generations of artisans, each refining the craft of authentic Neapolitan pizza. Today, Ciro, Antonio, and Anna Oliva carry the tradition forward at Da Concettina ai Tre Santi, a place that feels both timeless and alive.
The pizzeria sits on Via Arena della Sanità, a street that pulses with the energy of the neighbourhood. Step inside and the chaos of Naples fades. The dining rooms and garden patio are intimate, filled with colour: a striking Pulcinella artwork, hand-painted majolica dishes, and ceramics made by local artists. Everything reflects the family’s love for beauty and their desire to share it.
Rione Sanità is not just a backdrop—it is part of the experience. The Olivas grew up among the market stalls of the Vergini market, the scent of fresh produce, and the slow rhythm of daily life. That connection to the neighbourhood runs through every pizza. Before or after your meal, a walk through the Sanità reveals hidden treasures: the Basilica di Santa Maria alla Sanità, the San Gaudioso Catacombs, and the chapel of the Tre Santi, where Concettina first began.
The ingredients are treated with the same respect. Lemon brings a Mediterranean brightness, tomato provides the fire, and oregano offers a comforting aroma of the southern Italian countryside. Each pizza is a study in balance, made with the best raw materials and decades of know-how.
Da Concettina ai Tre Santi has earned a Michelin Recommended award, a nod to its unwavering commitment to quality. The Olivas have also opened a second location on the island of Capri, bringing their pizza to a new audience while staying true to their roots. But the heart remains in the Sanità, where the story began.
Whether you come for the pizza, the atmosphere, or the sense of history, you leave with the feeling of having been welcomed into someone’s home. That, perhaps, is the most authentic taste of Naples.
