The story
A few steps from Naples’ Lungomare, Ostaria Pignatelli occupies a refined space on Riviera di Chiaia. The interior balances elegance with a youthful, modern touch – the kind of place where careful details meet genuine warmth. The staff is described as highly professional yet cheerful, ready to accommodate even the most exacting requests with good humour. It is a restaurant that takes hospitality seriously, without ever becoming stiff.
The kitchen draws from the full breadth of Campanian, Italian, and Mediterranean traditions. As the restaurant puts it, “traditional, typical and ‘atypical’ Neapolitan and Mediterranean cuisine” runs through every page of the menu, alternating skilfully between sea and land. Antipasti include classics like eggplant parmigiana in “pignattiello” and buffalo mozzarella DOP with datterini tomatoes. Among the primi, you will find scialatielli with seafood, ziti with genovese sauce, and spaghettone with fried zucchini and provolone del Monaco DOP. Secondi range from grilled swordfish to ‘o ruotino with sausages and friarielli, plus a breaded cutlet that is a local staple. The menu also marks certain dishes as “(‘A) TYPICAL” – a nod to the deep-rooted recipes of the city.
Ostaria Pignatelli holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award that celebrates good quality cooking at a reasonable price. It is a fitting acknowledgment for a restaurant that delivers refined Neapolitan flavours without pretension, where the value is as clear as the cooking.
