The story
On the hills of the Val di Noto, halfway between the Baroque city of Noto and the surrounding countryside, lies the Country House Villadorata Resort. This late 19th-century rural estate is a certified organic farm spanning 23 hectares of olive groves, almond orchards, citrus trees, and a small vineyard. Within this setting, Orti Villadorata Restaurant brings the land to the table.
The kitchen is built around a wood-burning thermo-cooker, the restaurant’s beating heart. Prunings from the estate’s olive and citrus trees fuel the fire, creating a circular energy that speaks of respect for nature. This commitment to sustainability and authenticity has earned the restaurant a place in the Michelin guide, recommended for its honest, ingredient-driven approach.
Leading the kitchen is Chef Matteo Carnaghi, supported by a young, close-knit team. The philosophy here is simple: raw material is everything. The journey begins with the land and the work of small local producers, guardians of little-known traditions. The result is a cuisine rooted in the Sicilian countryside, expressed through a single tasting menu designed to reduce waste and highlight every ingredient’s worth. For those who prefer a more flexible experience, each dish from the tasting menu can also be ordered individually.
The wine list is predominantly Sicilian, with a selection of sparkling, biodynamic, and ancestral wines, plus D.O.C. Marsala. Craft beers and a cocktail menu inspired by the flavors of the island complete the experience. Orti Villadorata is open daily for dinner, offering a place where ancient gestures are renewed and the land comes to life in every bite.
