The story
Osteria Piazzetta Cattedrale occupies a privileged position in Ostuni, directly facing the 14th-century Romanesque cathedral. The restaurant is carved into an wing of the old castle, later a convent, and was originally a cantina. Today, the intimate rooms feature cross-vaulted ceilings and marble floors, creating an embracing, elegant environment. A fireplace, antique mirrors, amphorae, ceramic pine cones, and a display of fine wines add character. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming, designed to let guests forget the pace of modern life without creating any sense of intimidation.
The kitchen delivers Apulian cuisine with a modern sensibility. The cooking is genuine and of high quality, rooted in the region's traditions but expressed through contemporary techniques. The restaurant's philosophy centers on honest, flavorful dishes that showcase local ingredients. The space itself, once a cellar, now hosts a dining experience that balances refinement with approachability, where the historic architecture and careful details complement the authenticity of the food.
In 2025, Osteria Piazzetta Cattedrale earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its excellent quality-price ratio. This award highlights the restaurant's ability to provide sophisticated Apulian and modern cuisine at accessible prices, cementing its reputation as a destination for thoughtful, value-driven dining in Ostuni.
