The story
Andrea Alì began his culinary adventure in 1996, driven by a passion for the products of the Iblean region. His cooking philosophy has always been rooted in seasonality, history, and the traditions of these lands. At Andrea - Sapori Montani, every dish reflects the local terroir, using ingredients from his own organic garden and the surrounding countryside. The cuisine is unmistakably Sicilian, with a focus on the flavors of the Hyblaean Mountains.
The restaurant’s commitment to quality and value has been recognized with a Bib Gourmand in the MICHELIN Guide Italia 2024, an award that highlights good quality, good value cooking. This accolade places Andrea among a select group of restaurants where exceptional food meets accessible pricing. The recognition is a natural fit for a chef who has long championed honest, ingredient-driven cooking.
The menu changes with the seasons. In summer, guests can enjoy fresh vegetables from Andrea’s organic garden, while winter brings a variety of mushrooms and the prized black truffle of the Iblei. The restaurant’s “Piatti di Luglio” (July dishes) showcase summer vegetables at their peak. Each plate tells a story of the land, from the sun-drenched hills to the ancient traditions of the area.
After moving to a new location at Via Padre Giacinto 20, the restaurant now offers renovated dining rooms and a summer veranda in a traditional Iblean style. The setting is the historic center of Palazzolo Acreide, a UNESCO World Heritage site in the province of Syracuse. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with an outdoor seating area perfect for warm evenings. An interesting wine list complements the food, featuring local and regional selections.
The project extends beyond the dining room. “Le Stanze di Andrea” offers tastefully furnished, simple and functional rooms for those wishing to extend their stay. Whether for lunch or dinner, the restaurant is open daily except Tuesday, inviting guests to discover the authentic taste of the Iblei in a setting that honors both tradition and modernity.
