The story
In Palazzolo sull'Oglio, Osteria della Villetta has been a fixture since 1800, its story woven through four generations of the same family. Today, Maurizio Rossi and his wife carry the work forward, rooted in a conviction that an osteria is a place of welcome, conviviality, and social connection. "The Osteria represents my origins," Rossi says, "a concrete testimony of history, culture, and traditions to preserve." The restaurant's Michelin Bib Gourmand award recognises this steadfast commitment to good-quality, good-value cooking.
The kitchen draws directly from family recipes, with a clear philosophy: seasonality above all. Most vegetables come from the family's own garden on the Franciacorta hills, and the kitchen works with produce from Slow Food presidia. Fish arrives exclusively from Brescian lakes, meat from local butchers, and all desserts are made in-house. This is Lombardian cuisine at its most honest—simple, seasonal, and deeply tied to the land. The wine list naturally reflects the proximity to Franciacorta, a celebrated sparkling wine region.
The menu reads as a rich collection of memories and emotions, each dish rooted in tradition. The restaurant has been selected for the Guida ai Migliori Ristoranti Italiani 2025 and by Gambero Rosso 2025, alongside its Michelin Bib Gourmand. Reviews from Slow Food Editori and Tre Gamberi further underscore the quiet excellence of this family-run osteria. Here, a meal is not a performance—it is an invitation to sit down, taste the season, and share in a story that has been unfolding for more than a century.
