The story
Perched high above the Gulf of Salerno, Il Refettorio is the Michelin-starred restaurant within the historic Monastero Santa Rosa in Conca dei Marini, near Pianillo. The restaurant’s name, meaning “the refectory,” nods to the building’s monastic past—a place where the famous Sfogliatella Santa Rosa was first created by nuns. Today, that spirit of culinary innovation lives on.
Chef Alfonso Crescenzo leads the kitchen, blending deep-rooted tradition with modern technique. His passion for cooking began in childhood, making pasta with his grandmother in Sarno. That foundation evolved into a global culinary education, but Crescenzo found his true voice back in Campania. His family’s organic farm, “Terre Lavorate,” supplies the restaurant with produce, grounding the menu in the region’s best ingredients.
The cuisine is contemporary Mediterranean, with a clear reverence for Campanian flavors. The menu changes with the seasons, offering dishes that balance tradition and creativity. A thoughtfully curated wine list, featuring prestigious Italian labels, completes the experience.
