The story
Just a few steps from the Basilica of San Vitale, Osteria del Tempo Perso is tucked away enough to let you sink into Ravenna’s most intimate atmosphere. The name itself – “Osteria of Lost Time” – captures the aspiration at the heart of this place: to stop time for the hours you spend at the table.
The dining room is warm and relaxed, with books, records and carefully chosen photographs scattered among the bottles. The service is informal but attentive, and every detail is meant to make you feel at ease. The restaurant’s Michelin Recommended status reflects the quality of what comes out of the kitchen.
The menu changes every two months, keeping things fresh and in tune with the seasons. The wine list is updated a couple of times a year to keep even the most curious drinkers engaged. Each dish is made to order, and the bread is baked daily in-house.
Starters range from a sea bass carpaccio with avocado and lime citronette to a Fassona tartare with egg yolk and chive sauce. Among the first courses, you’ll find homemade sea bream ravioli with zucchini, shrimps and cherry tomatoes, or a traditional stuffed pasta with swordfish and asparagus. The tasting menu – a five-course journey through the kitchen’s best – is priced at €55 per person and offers a broader view of the chef’s Italian contemporary style.
Second courses include a croaker au gratin with corn and braised fennel, monkfish with almonds and salmoriglio sauce, and a guinea fowl stuffed with artichokes. Desserts are made in-house too: a pineapple crème caramel with crunchy nuts, or a ricotta meringue with strawberries and dark chocolate.
Osteria del Tempo Perso has earned a loyal following among locals and visitors alike. Guests praise the excellent ingredients, the balance of tradition and invention, and the welcoming, music-filled atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back to Ravenna just for dinner.
