The story
On the Ligurian coast, in the town of Recco, Da ö Vittorio has been a beacon of authentic hospitality for over a century. The Bisso family has welcomed guests here since 1920, when Vittorio Emanuele Bisso first opened a small room-rental business. What began as a country osteria has grown into a celebrated restaurant complex, recognized by the Michelin guide for its enduring quality.
The restaurant’s heart is its dedication to traditional Ligurian cuisine, with seafood taking a starring role. Fresh fish is a constant presence, and seasonal produce is handled with respect. Guests consistently point to one dish as unmissable: the famous focaccia col formaggio of Recco, a local specialty that the kitchen has perfected. The menu also offers gluten-free options and a carefully selected wine list.
Dining at Da ö Vittorio means choosing your setting. The restaurant can seat over 200 guests across several distinct spaces. The grand “Salone delle feste” is made for lively celebrations, while the intimate “Sala del caminetto” offers warmth on winter evenings. The frescoed “Verandina” with its vaulted ceilings, the “Sala dei limoni” (once a bocce court), and the charming “Garden” with its cupolas—originally a dance floor under the summer sky—each carry their own history.
Now run by twin brothers Vittorio and Giovanni, the fourth generation of the Bisso family continues the work of their forebears. The restaurant is listed among the Locali Storici d’Italia, a testament to its role in Italian cultural heritage. At Da ö Vittorio, a meal is a direct connection to the flavors and traditions of Liguria, served with the unhurried warmth that only a family-run establishment can provide.
