The story
Fabrizio and Simona opened Mezzolitro Vini e Cucina with a clear purpose: to share the true taste of Abruzzo in the historic center of Rho, just outside Milan. The name itself evokes the humble half-liter of wine that once accompanied meals in the region’s small cellars, where seasonal ingredients were treated with respect and tradition. Here, that spirit lives on.
The restaurant has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its good-quality, good-value cooking—a recognition that reflects their commitment to honest, flavorful food. Every dish is built on a foundation of artisanal products sourced directly from Abruzzo: pecorino di Farindola, Canestrato di Castel del Monte, sheep’s salami aged in beeswax, and handmade pasta from a small workshop in Elice. The lamb comes from the Marsicano breed, and the famous arrosticini—skewers of grilled sheep meat—are made with the same rigor as they would be in the mountains of the Gran Sasso.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, designed to feel like a home in Abruzzo. The dining room is both casual and refined, with attentive table service and an open kitchen where you can see the care that goes into each plate. The wine list, curated to complement the cuisine, also carries the region’s best labels.
Lunch is served Tuesday through Saturday, dinner from Monday to Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday lunch. Whether you sit indoors or on the outdoor terrace, the experience is one of genuine hospitality and deep regional identity—a corner of Abruzzo brought to life in Lombardy.
