The story
In the historic town of Sanluri, facing the imposing Castello di Sanluri, Coxinendi brings a fresh, personal approach to Sardinian cuisine. Founded in 2019 by Davide Atzeni and Sara Serpi, the restaurant is built on a philosophy of seasonality, local products, and complete artisanal craftsmanship. Every ingredient, from bread to pasta to desserts, is made in-house. The team searches history for inspiration, creating dishes that are both rooted in tradition and expressed with a free hand. This commitment to quality and creativity earned the restaurant a Michelin Bib Gourmand, a recognition for good quality, good value cooking.
The menu reads like a tour of the island's larder, reimagined. Start with a dish like Pane al vapore, bottarga e cavolo rosso al sesamo – steamed bread paired with cured bottarga and sesame-scented red cabbage. Or the Crudo di gamberi rossi, pompelmo e salsa alla marinara, highlighting the sweet, raw red prawns. Among the primi, the Malloreddus di Coxinendi offers a signature take on the classic Sardinian gnocchi, while the Pillus alla bottarga is a simple, elegant pasta showcase. For mains, the Petto d’anatra con lenticchie e salsa all’arancia (duck breast with lentils and orange sauce) and the Spiedo di quaglie e verdure affumicate (quail skewer with smoked vegetables) demonstrate a confident hand with both land and sea. Desserts, like the Mont’e Prama with almond, apple, and dark chocolate, are creative and satisfying.
Coxinendi is a place where the territory is discovered through the plate, one artisanal, creative dish at a time.
