The story
Perched in the stunning Val Senales, Oberraindlhof has been a historic inn since 1581, run by the Raffeiner family. This is not a place for culinary gimmicks. As the team puts it, "Our priority is the happy palate of our guests. Authentic taste and excellent raw ingredients are more important than fantasies on porcelain." Yet the recognition has come naturally: the restaurant holds recommendations from the Michelin Guide, alongside praise from Gault Millau and Falstaff.
The kitchen, led by master chef Günther Veith, focuses on conscious, authentic Alpine cuisine. Expect dishes built from prime local ingredients—think organic cheese, apple juice from nearby orchards, eggs from free-range hens, and fresh vegetables from neighboring farmers. The menu honors old, almost-forgotten recipes, with a strong emphasis on regional and sustainable produce. Standout experiences include the legendary Sunday roast, themed culinary evenings, and show cooking sessions. The wine list is equally impressive, featuring over 400 excellent selections from South Tyrol and across Europe.
The restaurant is housed in the inn’s historic stube—warm, wood-paneled rooms that have cradled the region’s culinary art for centuries. Here, you can enjoy a romantic dinner for two or a celebration for 25. The atmosphere blends historical flair with Alpine warmth, whether you’re seated in the bright main dining area or a cozy corner of the stube. The restaurant serves dinner from Thursday to Tuesday, 18:00–20:30, and Sunday lunch from 12:00–13:30 (closed Wednesdays). Non-guests are welcome.
