The story
In the tiny medieval hamlet of Villa a Sesta, surrounded by vineyards, La Bottega del 30 has been a fixture of Tuscan dining for more than twenty-five years. The restaurant occupies a stone building on via Santa Caterina, its atmosphere intimate and unhurried—a place where the experience extends beyond the plate to the village itself. “We fail in our idea of cooking when whoever tastes one of our dishes does not recognize what he is eating,” says executive chef and owner Hélène Stoquelet, whose philosophy centres on clarity and respect for ingredients.
La Bottega del 30 has been recognised by the Michelin Guide for over 24 years, first as a Michelin-starred restaurant and now as a Michelin Recommended address for 2026—a testament to its enduring quality and superb hospitality. The recognition is woven into the restaurant’s identity, not as a past achievement but as a living standard that drives every dish.
The kitchen, led by Stoquelet, turns out refined Tuscan cuisine that lets each component speak. Starters include an artichoke flan with pecorino fondue and a dusting of liquorice, or a creamy asparagus crème brûlée. Among the handmade pastas, spaghetti with black truffle and smoked goose breast is a signature, as are the “gnudi”—ricotta and spinach dumplings served with a traditional meat ragù. Second courses range from deboned guinea hen stuffed with Swiss chard and sausage to lamb rib chops grilled quickly over high heat. A flourless dark chocolate cake, made from Hélène’s grandmother’s recipe, closes the meal with quiet confidence.
A tasting menu is available for those who wish to experience the full arc of Stoquelet’s cooking, priced at €95 (beverages not included). Bread and pasta are made in-house daily.
Dinner is served in the evening, with outdoor seating available in warmer months. The restaurant also accommodates private parties. Whether you come for the tasting menu or a single course, La Bottega del 30 offers a genuine taste of Tuscan hospitality in a setting that feels centuries old—and a kitchen that has earned its place in the guidebooks year after year.
