The story
“Lillotatini” was the nickname the owner’s grandfather gave him – a man in a white jacket who ran a little shop called “Alimentari e Diversi” in Panicale. The name stuck, and so did the spirit. Today, the same door opens to Patrizia, the owner’s wife, who greets guests with the same smile, irony and generosity her husband remembers from his childhood.
The kitchen at Lillotatini is built on a deep knowledge of local products and historic recipes from the region. The restaurant describes its cooking as “gusto, leggerezza, tradizione e raffinatezza” – taste, lightness, tradition and refinement. Every dish is rooted in Umbrian tradition, yet presented with a lightness that makes the food feel contemporary without losing its soul. The ingredients speak for themselves: pecorino, cinta senese capocollo, carpa affumicata del Trasimeno, wild boar ragù, and agnello al buglione.
The restaurant sits on Piazza Umberto I in the heart of Panicale, a true medieval borgo. The atmosphere is described as magical and evocative – the kind of place that lends itself to a romantic, unforgettable experience. Outdoor seating is available when the weather permits, and the wine list is worth exploring.
Lillotatini’s commitment to authentic Umbrian cuisine has earned it a Michelin Recommended award for 2026. It’s a quiet nod to the quality you’ll find on the plate: dishes that are unrepeatable, as the restaurant says, because they come from a place of memory and craft.
Whether you come for lunch or dinner, you’ll find a kitchen that respects the past while making you feel completely at home in the present.
