The story

Le Beccherie: The Birthplace of Tiramisù in Treviso, Italy

A Storied Beginning

Since 1939, Le Beccherie has stood in the heart of Treviso as a place of encounter, culture, and gastronomic tradition. It is here that the tiramisù — Tiramesù in the local dialect — was first codified in 1972, the result of experiments by Alba Campeol and pastry chef Roberto Linguanotto. The recipe entered the restaurant’s menu that year and was later officially deposited and protected by the Accademia Italiana della Cucina in 2010. In 2019, the Accademia del Tiramisù named Le Beccherie a Locale Storico, recognizing the restaurant as the authentic birthplace of Italy’s most beloved dessert.

The Kitchen Today

The restaurant is now guided by chefs Manuel Gobbo and Beatrice Simonetti, who bring experience from notable kitchens such as El Toulà and Ciasa Salares. Their cooking respects the past while embracing the present: selected raw ingredients, seasonal produce from the territory, and a balance of land and sea. The style is described as “the equilibrium of beauty” — simple, direct, and rooted in the Veneto region. Le Beccherie’s country cooking and modern cuisine showcase the full breadth of Treviso’s culinary heritage, with dishes that highlight the freshness and quality of local products.

An Evolving Experience

The menu offers a “Degustazione Beccherie 1962,” a “Degustazione NOI,” and an à la carte selection. The wine list is curated by the sommelier, with a strong focus on local producers from the UNESCO World Heritage hills of the Veneto, alongside selections from France, Germany, and Spain. The restaurant’s recognition by the Michelin guide reflects its commitment to quality and consistency.

More Than a Dessert

While the tiramisù remains the emblematic dish, the spirit of Le Beccherie is about continuity and evolution. In 2023, the restaurant was acquired by entrepreneurs Paolo Lai and Sergio Buongiovanni, who have committed to preserving its historicity, authenticity, and cultural identity. The team, led by Sara and Andrea, welcomes guests daily with passion and warmth. With air conditioning, outdoor seating, and wheelchair accessibility, the atmosphere blends tradition with contemporary comfort. At Le Beccherie, the story of Treviso’s gastronomy is still being written.
